Ohio Improvement Process

Ohio Improvement Process

The Ohio Improvement Process (OIP) provides a means of aligning processes, structures, tools, and people to significantly improve instructional practice and student performance.

Ohio is committed to the implementation of a unified state of support directly focused on improving the academic achievement of all students. Ohio's statewide system of support includes State Support Team and Educational Service Center personnel who use a connected set of tools to improve instructional practice and support performance on a continuing basis.

The vision for Ohio is "all students start ready for kindergarten, actively engaging in learning and graduate ready for college and careers, " regardless of race, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, limited English proficiency, disability, gift, or talent. Each district or community school and building is working toward that end, as well as toward ensuring equitable access to high-quality instruction for all student groups in keeping with federal and state laws. Continuous improvement planning is the core process for improving instructional practice, leading to higher achievement for all students.

The follow seven principles summarize the essential characteristics of the OIP.
