This two day training will be held on October 20, 2017 and November 10, 2017 and will provide a broad overview of the importance of Phonological Awareness in the Early Learning Classroom.
Teacher from PreK to 3rd grade will know:
- Definition of phonological awareness & phonemic awareness (PA)
- Relation of phonological awareness to early reading skills
- Developmental continuum of phonological awareness skills
- Which phonological awareness skills are more important and when they should be taught
Teachers will gain skills in:
- Assessing phonological awareness and diagnose difficulties
- Use a development continuum to select/design Phonological Awareness Instruction
- Use the Ohio Language Arts Standards to assess your core reading program relevant to Phonological and Phonemic Awareness and determine appropriate supplemental activities
