This two day training will provide a broad overview of the importance of Phonological Awareness in the Early
Learning Classroom. The dates are February 23, 2018 and March 6, 2018.
Teachers from PreK to 3rd grade will know:
Definition of phonological awareness & phonemic awareness (PA)
Relation of phonological awareness to early reading skills
Developmental continuum of phonological awareness skills
Which phonological awareness skills are more important and when they should be taught
Teachers will gain skills in:
Assessing phonological awareness and diagnose difficulties
Use a developmental continuum to select/design Phonological Awareness instruction
Use the Ohio Language Arts Standards to assess your core reading program relevant to Phonological and Phonemic Awareness and determine appropriate supplemental activities
