Surrogate Parent Training
Are you interested in supporting students in your community? You can help by becoming a Surrogate Parent to a student who requires special education supports and whose parents are unknown or unavailable, the child is in foster care or the child is a ward of the state. Children depend on Surrogate Parents to help assure they have access to free and appropriate education. (To be eligible to be a surrogate parent you cannot be an employee of the Ohio Department of Education, the school district, or any other agency that is involved in the education or care of the child). Surrogate parent training sessions are being held March 7th, 9th and 10th. Call 740-439-9383 for more information.
PBIS Awards

State Support Team 12 is pleased to announce three award recipients for outstanding efforts towards Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) in the State of Ohio!  At the first annual PBIS Showcase held on December 1, 2015 at the Nationwide and Ohio Farm Bureau 4H Center in Columbus, OH, school teams received leveled awards based upon their continuous work with the development and implementation of a Schoolwide and Classroom PBIS Program.  The awards carry three different levels of achievement…Bronze, Silver, and Gold.  We congratulate the Starlight School (part of the Tuscarawas Board of Developmental Disabilities) for receiving the Bronze Award, Ridgewood Elementary School in Ridgewood Local School District for their Silver Award, and Bellaire Elementary School in Bellaire Local School District for being the only school in the state to receive a Gold Award!
